First Christmas

I have a feeling Christmases will never be the same!  Kate was pretty young this year to know all that was going on, but even still... I can tell this is going to be so fun :)

We went to Kansas to be with John's family for Christmas and were joined by some of his extended family from New Jersey.  It was a full house and so much fun!  Kate was the only little one there, so she got loads of love and attention.

On Christmas Eve we all went to church for a candlelight service, and then came back home for dinner.  Kate slept while we all cooked and then ate. lots of yummy food.  I woke her back up to open gifts, which went great for about 45 minutes... but then she was ready to go back to bed and apparently wait for Santa there.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year everyone!!

8 Months Old

With lots going on this month, it just flew by!  Kate is getting more mobile now, which means re-arranging things throughout the house  :)  It's amazing just how much is within her reach! 

At 8 Months Old, Kate: 

• is starting to crawl!  (her favorite spot seems to be under the Christmas tree... but slobbering on the coffee table or playing with the entertainment center buttons, also seem quite entertaining to her)
• has 2 bottom teeth - they appeared out of nowhere and we found them accidentally!
• is drooling a TON, consequently 
• has started the Mommy attachment - which is heartwarming, of course... but can also get a bit inconvenient  :)
• has much lighter hair now - with her first haircut taking off A LOT of her hair, the dark she was born with is gone and her strawberry blonde is coming through
• weighed 13.2 lbs several weeks ago, but I can tell she's gained since then.  She finally has baby rolls which I just looooove

Christmas Crafting

Before Christmas, I had some girls over for a crafting party.  We each brought a project to work on, while we munched on goodies and laughed with each other.  It was fun AND productive!

I worked on a little wooden nativity set.  I found the idea on one of my favorite blogs - www.the36thavenue.com.  And here's my finished product!  (I didn't get this far the night with my girls... but oh well)  :)

Kate's 1st Haircut



So I decided Kate needed a haircut... see the following evidence:

 

 

 

So yes, a haircut was definitely in order.  I'm not sure why I assumed that I could cut my baby's hair with no problem... but I did.  

 

This haircut post is a few weeks late partially because we were busy with the holidays, and partially because after Kate's haircut I was too embarrased with my handiwork to put pictures up.  :)

Alright fine... here's the haircut. But I'm not going to show you her right side. 

By now, Kate's hair has grown back so I can joke about the awful haircut I gave her.  And thankfully, she's cute with or without hair  :)
